Artist Workshops in Oil Painting with Joan Darflinger
William Alexander Master Instructor at Inspiration Point, Koontz Lake, Indiana
Joan Darflinger’s paintings tell a visual story. In her new series entitled “Postcards from an Artists Travels” she captures those special moments in time as she travels the world for inspiration.
“Teaching with Enthusiasm, Painting with Passion and Loving Life in general” are words that Joan lives by every day. Art is her love, second only to her deep love for her family. Her four sons, daughter-in-laws and six amazing grandchildren fill her life with joy. Her love of teaching will always be important to her. To pass the baton of her knowledge to other aspiring artists is and will always be one of her goals in life.
This semi retired, energetic and dedicated artist now resides at the waters edge of Koontz Lake Indiana. Joan sold her art studio/business after thirty plus years of teaching thousands of students at the Joan Darflinger School of Fine Art in St. Charles Illinois. She then moved to Indiana where she now lives at her lake house. Joan is now enjoying the next chapter in her life as she focuses on painting for pleasure, part time teaching and conducting painting retreats in her home which was once a fishing lodge. Every year or two she also conducts World Wide Artists’ Adventures, which are en plein air painting retreats all over the world for fellow artists and non artists. Joan has conducted these painting retreats in Monet’s Garden, Giverny France, as well as many beautiful location throughout the United States, Italy, Sicily, British West Indies, China, Switzerland, Germany, Hawaii and next on to Taormina and the Umbria countryside June 6-18, 2011.

Darflinger has also enjoyed being one of the few TV artists on PBS and Cable stations throughout the United States for many years. She was one of the first TV artists who presented the easy “How-to” painting shows which aired every week into the homes of millions of viewers. Her characteristic style includes a wide variety of subjects from portraiture, landscapes, still life, seascapes and murals. This prolific artist has created more than four thousand paintings during her career and still continues to enjoy painting and sharing her talents with clients and students everywhere.
Back in the 90’s Joan Darflinger and fellow artist Este Rayle were asked to create and implement the Alexander Art Corp. and Koh-I-Noor Corp. Certification Programs. Joan and Este certified hundreds of aspiring artists to begin their artistic journey of teaching the world to paint the incredible Bill Alexander method of painting techniques. Joan is one of the few Alexander Art artists who received the ”Master Artist” status.
Joan is available to conduct her exciting painting workshops in your area. Click here to contact Joan for more information.

Having had a classical art background Joan takes some of the Alexander techniques and applies it to her paintings which enable her to create beautiful, intricate paintings. She creates two very different series of paintings. One style is in the more time consuming classical style for her clients and commissions and a series of simpler paintings for instructional purposes for students from beginners through advanced abilities. She is currently working on a series of art packets with step-by-step instructions, photo references and color mixing charts for each painting to enable aspiring artists to learn and copy her instructional paintings.
Darflinger’s skills have not gone unnoticed. Her paintings hang in numerous private and public collections throughout the United States and Europe. Her paintings have received many top awards, Best of Shows, Peoples Choice and Purchase Awards to numerous to list. She is also a Muralist. Her amazing murals offer clients “Fine Art“ for their walls and ceilings rather than the often seen simple/cartoon like attempts of others. (See “Murals” on her website for examples.)
Joan accepts commissions for original art work in all subjects and mediums. Click here to contact Joan.
